Hittite adalah orang Anatolia purba yang bertutur dalam bahasa Hittite dari keluarga bahasa India-Eropah di Anatolia. Orang Hittite mengasaskan sebuah kerajaan yang berpusat di Hattusa (Hittite ^URUḪattuša) di utara-tengah Anatolia (di penara Anatolian Tengah) ca. kurun ke-18 SM. Empayar Hittite pada zaman kemuncaknya pada kurun ke-14 SM, merangkumi bahagian besar Anatolia, barat laut Syria sejauh muara Sungai Litani (sebuah wilayah dikenali sebagai Amqu), dan ke arah timur sehingga ke hulu Mesopotamia. Selepas ca. 1180 SM, empayar ini berpecah kepada beberapa negara-kota "Neo-Hittite" bebas, beberapa darinya wujud sehingga lewat kurun ke-8 SM.
