Group D of the Piala Dunia FIFA 2010 is taking place from 13 June to 23 June 2010.[1] The group consists of Germany, Australia, Serbia and Ghana. Along with Group G, it is considered to be a Group of Death.[2]
West Germany was in the same group with Australia in 1974. West Germany won 3–0 and subsequently advanced to the second round.
The winners of this group will advance to face the runners-up in Group C. The runners-up of this group will face the winners of Group C.

On the next matchday (23 June), the following teams (group winner, runner-up) will advance:

1. Australia will advance if they win by eight goals or more. If they win by exactly seven goals, they must have scored at least four goals more than Germany in their respective last matches in order to advance.
2. Australia will advance if the aggregate goal difference in their win and Ghana's loss is six goals or more. If the goal difference is exactly five, Australia will advance if they score at least two goals more than Ghana, Ghana will advance if they score as many goals or more than Australia, and drawing of lots will decide the qualifier if Australia score exactly one more.
3. Ghana will advance if and only if they lose by exactly one goal and score at most one goal less than Serbia in their respective last matches.
4. Serbia will win the group if the goal difference in their win is greater by at least four goals than the goal difference in Germany's win. If the goal difference is exactly three, they will win the group if they score at least three goals more than Germany in their respective last matches.
