Hi! This is great! I was just searching for an email address to ask someone to check the text I started this article with. Sorry for typing english as I don't really know malay. Scanning the text some of the spelling seems to have changed? Interresting.

I have written most of the Borneo, Germanic, and "Dartmoor" section in the german longhouse article. and was looking for some "nativ" language to link to. I wasen't to sure wether rumahpanjang, rumah panjang or rumah panjai was correct. Maybe someone from here could also give the subject a start in the indonesian wikipedia? I dont know wether there are any Dayak, Iban or other Languages present on the Wikipedia (maybe Sunda?) but could someone that is at home in other languages then me search for more interwiki links .

I also found an article on Rumah Tradisional Melaka. Could this be gathered with Rumah into some sort of category?

On the Indonesian WP there is an article on traditional malayen buildings, maybe this could be translated or worked into some malay article. Rumah_Melayu

Regarding this article:

In archeology there are two european longhouse types that are now extinct.
  • The neolithic danubian (Bandkeramik) sort that was introduced with the first farmers of central and western europe around 5000 BC.
  • The germanic cattle farmer longhouses that emerged along the southwestern North Sea coast in the third or fourth century before christ and might be the ancestor of several medevial housetypes such as the scandinavian langhus, the english, welsh and scottish longhouse variants and the german and dutch "Fachhallenhaus".
The medevial longhouse types of europe of which some examples have survived are among others:
  • The scandinavian or viking Langhus.
  • The southwest England variants in Dartmoor and Wales
  • The northwest England type in Cumbria
  • The scottish Longhouse, Blackhouse or "taighean dubha"
As far as I know there is also a type of longhouse on the Island of Siberut, that belong to the Metawai Islands to the west of Sumatra.

Please regard the german longhouse article and investigate the links of wich most are to english sites. So my next project ought to be to expand the english longhouse stub, maybe with some help on the Borneo longhouse?

Rumah Tradisional Melaka literally means 'Malacca Traditional House'. It's not exactly a type of house, but id:Rumah Melayu is. You could say the former is a subtype of the latter. ...Aurora... 15:01, 17 Mac 2006 (UTC)[balas]

Wow this is fast :-) cool

I have translated some text to the english longhouse version now. Please check for mistakes, especially concerning the list with the differences in building with the different tribes. Seeing how pretty my list looks in malay I have added that from here as well.

One thing on the malay text should be changed though: neologisme is not neolithic! The houses were built in the "more recent Stone Age" and not "New Word". t.woelk --89.51.24.176 15:21, 17 Mac 2006 (UTC)[balas]
