Richard James Wilkinson

Sir Richard James Wilkinson (1867 – 5 Disember 1941) merupakan pentadbir Koloni, sarjana bahasa Melayu dan sejarahwan.[1]
Richard James Wilkinson menunjukkan minat mendalam mengenai Melayu, terutamanya mengenai budaya, sejarah, bahasa, dan kesasteraan.
Dia mendapat pendidikan di Trinity College, Cambridge, dan bermula sebagai kadet di Negeri-negeri Selat pada 1889. Dia kemudian dilantik sebagai inspektor kebangsaan bagi sekolah-sekolah pada 1903 sehingga 1906. Dia kemudian menjadi residen memangku Negeri Sembilan pada 1910.
Antara 1911 hingga 1916 dia menjadi setiausaha koloni.
