Windows Server 2008 adalah sistem pengendalian peservis dari Microsoft, yang iaitu pengganti kepada Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2008 memperkenalkan sebanyak ciri-ciri dari Windows Vista kepada Windows Server. Ini serupa perkaitan dengan di antara Windows Server 2003 dan Windows XP.
Ia yang dikenali sebagai Windows Server Codename "Longhorn" hingga 16 Mei 2007, apabila Bill Gates mengumumkan tajuk rasmi semasa ucapan dasarnya di WinHEC.[1]

Pada Ogos 2008 Microsoft mengumumkan bahawa Windows Server 7 adalah "keluaran minor", dikenali secara rasmi sebagai Windows Server 2008 R2[2] [3], akan dikeluar pada 2010[4].
Windows Server 2008 R2 akan 64-bit sahaja.[5]
