Pada pagi 11 April 2019, Presiden Sudan Omar al-Bashir telah dikeluarkan dari kuasa oleh Angkatan Tentera Sudan ketika bantahan yang masih berterusan selepas memegang jawatan selama hampir 30 tahun.[3]

Latar belakang[sunting | sunting sumber]

Protes telah berterusan di Sudan sejak 19 Disember 2018 apabila satu siri demonstrasi berlaku di beberapa bandaraya akibat kenaikan kos hidup secara mendadak dan kemerosotan ekonomi.[4] Pada bulan Januari 2019, protes itu beralih perhatian dari perkara ekonomi kepada panggilan peletakan jawatan untuk Presiden Sudan Omar al-Bashir.[5][6]

Menjelang Februari 2019, Bashir telah mengisytiharkan darurat pertama dalam dua puluh tahun di tengah-tengah pergolakan yang semakin meningkat.[7][8]
