Dalam ekonomi, monopsoni merupakan sejenis struktur pasaran di mana pembeli tunggal sebahagian besarnya mengawal pasaran sebagai pembeli utama bagi barangan dan perkhidmatan yang ditawarkan oleh ramai penjual. Teori monopsoni mikroekonomi mengandaikan satu entiti tunggal mempunyai kuasa pasaran ke atas semua penjual sebagai satu-satunya pihak yang membeli sesuatu barangan atau perkhidmatan. Kuasa ini adalah serupa dengan kuasa sebuah monopolis, yang boleh mempengaruhi harga ke atas pembelinya dalam sesebuah monopoli, di mana pelbagai pembeli hanya boleh membeli daripada seorang penjual sesuatu barangan atau perkhidmatan.
Etimologi
[sunting | sunting sumber]Istilah "monopsoni" (daripada Bahasa Yunani μόνος (mónos) "tunggal" dan ὀψωνεῖν (opsōneîn) "membeli ikan")[1] pertama kali diperkenalkan oleh pakar ekonomi British Joan Robinson di dalam buku beliau yang sangat berpengaruh, The Economics of Imperfect Competition (1933).[2] Robinson mengkreditkan sarjana klasik Bertrand Hallward dari Universiti Cambridge sebagai pencipta istilah tersebut.[1][a]
