Sejumlah nama kerabat Arab Saudi, menteri-menteri kerajaan dan ahli perniagaan di tahan pada November 2017 berikutan penubuhan sebuah jawatankuasa anti rasuah yang dipimpin oleh Putera Mahkota Mohammad bin Salman. Mereka ditahan di hotel Ritz-Carlton di Riyadh[1] yang kemudiannya hotel tersebut terpaksa menolak sebarang tempahan baru dan memberitahu pelanggan untuk meninggalkan hotel.[2] Pesawat peribadi juga ditahan untuk mengelakkan suspek melarikan diri ke luar negara.[2]

Bank-bank di Arab Saudi turut telah membekukan lebih daripada 1,200 akaun kepunyaan individu dan syarikat dalam kerajaan sebagai sebahagian daripada pembersihan anti rasuah.[3]
