Virus cacar monyet (MPV atau MPXV, bahasa Inggeris: monkeypox viruscode: en is deprecated ) ialah virus zoonosis DNA bebenang ganda yang menyebabkan cacar monyet dalam manusia dan haiwan lain. Ia tergolong dalam genus Orthopoxvirus dalam keluarga Poxviridae. Ia merupakan salah satu ortopoksvirus manusia yang termasuk virus variola (VARV), cacar lembu (CPX), dan vaksinia (VACV). Ia bukan leluhur langsung kepada, dan bukan leluhur langsung bagi, virus variola virus yang menyebabkan cacar. Penyakit cacar monyet serupa dengan cacar, tetapi dengan ruam sedikit dan kadar kematian yang rendah.^[1]^[2]^[3]
