Arbutoideae ialah subfamili dalam keluarga tumbuhan Ericaceae. Analisis filogenetik menyokong semua genera subfamili sebagai monophyletic, kecuali Arbutus.^[1] Selain itu, telah dicadangkan bahawa hubungan bukan saudara perempuan antara Mediterranean dan spesies Amerika Utara mungkin boleh dijelaskan oleh taburan yang pernah meluas di hemisfera Utara sebelum Neogene.^[1]

Genera Arbutus, Arctostaphylos, Comarostaphylis membentuk jenis tertentu simbiosis mycorrhizal dengan kulat, Arbutoid mycorrhiza , yang menyerupai ectomycorrhizas.^[2]^[3]
