Mark James Patrick Kermode (nama keluarga asal: Fairey;[2][3] dilahirkan pada 2 Julai 1963)[4][5] ialah seorang pengkritik filem dan pemuzik dari United Kingdom. Beliau menulis untuk akhbar The Observer dan majalah Sight & Sound serta mengacarakan beberapa program siaran BBC terutamanya Kermode and Mayo's Film Review dalam saluran BBC Radio 5 Live. Beliau turut bermain double bass dalam kugiran skiffle Dodge Brothers.
Kehidupan awal[sunting | sunting sumber]
Kermode dilahirkan di Barnet, Hertfordshire.[5] Dia berpendidikan di Sekolah Aske's Boys 'The Haberdashers, sekolah budak lelaki bebas di Elstree, Hertfordshire, beberapa tahun menjelang pelawak Sacha Baron Cohen dan David Baddiel serta pada tahun yang sama dengan pelakon Jason Isaacs.[6]
Dia dibesarkan sebagai seorang Metodis, dan kemudiannya menjadi ahli Gereja England.[7] Orang tuanya bercerai ketika dia berusia 20-an dan kemudian menukar namanya kepada nama ibunya (nama sebelum ibunya berkahwin) dengan surat ikatan pol.[8] Beliau memperolehi PhD dalam bahasa Inggeris di University of Manchester pada tahun 1991, dan menulis tesis mengenai fiksyen seram.[5]

Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School ... [produced] quite a vintage crop in [Isaacs'] time: fellow pupils included Sacha Baron Cohen, David Baddiel and Matt Lucas. 'I've seen Baddiel a few times', Isaacs says, and he sees the others occasionally at awards ceremonies. ... [N]ot all the Habs stars of the time were Jewish, though, and Isaacs has a lot of time for another alumnus, the BBC's film critic, Mark Kermode: 'He is always incredibly lovely and says hello on his Radio 5 podcasts, which I've listened to in Auschwitz and many other strange places. He's said I was too cool [at school], but he was at the epicentre of the in-crowd.'
