Someone could ammend this article according to the Bahasa Indonesia article? Thank you. --El Mexicano (bincang) 13:28, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

No. This is the Malay Wikipedia, not the Indonesian Wikipedia. Thank you. — A|istairé₁₉⁸⁵ (bincang) 13:59, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]
Takde siapa suruh copy-paste bulat-bulat. ^_^ 14:33, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

Saya lihat laman Indonesia rencana ini dan kandung isi maklumatnya lebih kurang sama banyak je. Jadi kesimpulan saya adalah dia hendakkan kita masukkan perkataan Indonesia. Bukankah ganjil? Our language is not Indonesian, El Mexicano, and I'm sick of people who say it is. — A|istairé₁₉⁸⁵ (bincang) 15:05, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

It seems that you didn't understand me. OK, for you it is not the same language (note that only for political reasons, because linguistically it IS the same language), but I suppose you understand it and you could add information to this article from the Indonesian one. --El Mexicano (bincang) 15:23, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

The Indonesian language is a political language. An artificial language, created after Indonesia gained independence in 1949 and based upon the language used in the Riau islands. The Riau islands were once part of the Johor sultanate, now a component state in the Federation of Malaysia, so the language by right belongs to Malaysia and credits go to Malaysia for being the land of its birth (something the Indonesians never acknowledge).
What I said was that the information in the Indonesian article isn't much addition to what we already have here. Why not suggest a translation from the Englsh article instead? Its what we do around here. Besides, it would be much more worth the effort. — A|istairé₁₉⁸⁵ (bincang) 15:54, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

Well, of course it would be better, I just mentioned the Indonesian because I was not sure how many users spoke English here (I thought really not many). Regarding the language, I knew the same as you wrote, I mean Indonesian is really Malay (I'm a hobby linguist, so I'm interested in languages very much). I imagine that difference is similar to the one between Tagalog and Filipino. --El Mexicano (bincang) 16:03, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

Well, English is more likely to be understood here then Indonesian, as in Malaysia (where most Malay speakers hail from) English is taught as a second language and widely spoken because we were under British rule before independence, and although the national language is Malay, Acts of Parliament and decisions of the superior courts are still done in English mostly. And, translation of English Wikipedia articles is very commonplace here. — A|istairé₁₉⁸⁵ (bincang) 16:11, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

That's good. I'm sorry that I don't speak your language, I know just one word: selamat (I think it means "thank you"). --El Mexicano (bincang) 16:18, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

Nah, selamat means safe. Like selamat jalan! (have a safe journey!). Thank you would be terima kasih. As for your request, I'll see that it gets forwarded to the requests page. — A|istairé₁₉⁸⁵ (bincang) 16:27, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]

Oh, then I confused it with Tagalog. Sorry. --El Mexicano (bincang) 16:38, 31 Januari 2009 (UTC)[balas]
