Recent changes
- There is a new public status page at www.wikimediastatus.net. This site shows five automated high-level metrics where you can see the overall health and performance of our wikis' technical environment. It also contains manually-written updates for widespread incidents, which are written as quickly as the engineers are able to do so while also fixing the actual problem. The site is separated from our production infrastructure and hosted by an external service, so that it can be accessed even if the wikis are briefly unavailable. You can read more about this project.

Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 19 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 20 April. It will be on all wikis from 21 April (calendar).
- Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 19 April at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 21 April at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
- Administrators will now have the option to delete/undelete the associated "Talk" page when they are deleting a given page. An API endpoint with this option is also available. This concludes the 11th wish of the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey.
- On selected wikis, 50% of logged-in users will see the new table of contents. When scrolling up and down the page, the table of contents will stay in the same place on the screen. This is part of the Desktop Improvements project. [5]
Message boxes produced by MediaWiki code will no longer have these CSS classes: successbox,errorbox,warningbox. The styles for those classes andmessageboxwill be removed from MediaWiki core. This only affects wikis that use these classes in wikitext, or change their appearance within site-wide CSS. Please review any local usage and definitions for these classes you may have. This was previously announced in the 28 February issue of Tech News.
Future changes

- There is no new MediaWiki version this week. [21]
- Incompatibility issues with Kartographer and the FlaggedRevs extension will be fixed: Deployment is planned for May 10 on all wikis. Kartographer will then be enabled on the five wikis which have not yet enabled the extension on May 24.
- The Vector (2022) skin will be set as the default on several more wikis, including Arabic and Catalan Wikipedias. Logged-in users will be able to switch back to the old Vector (2010). See the latest update about Vector (2022).

- Some wikis can soon use the add a link feature. This will start on Wednesday. The wikis are Catalan Wikipedia, Hebrew Wikipedia, Hindi Wikipedia, Korean Wikipedia, Norwegian Bokmål Wikipedia, Portuguese Wikipedia, Simple English Wikipedia, Swedish Wikipedia, Ukrainian Wikipedia. This is part of the progressive deployment of this tool to more Wikipedias. The communities can configure how this feature works locally. [22]
- The Wikimedia Hackathon 2022 will take place online on May 20–22. It will be in English. There are also local hackathon meetups in Germany, Ghana, Greece, India, Nigeria and the United States. Technically interested Wikimedians can work on software projects and learn new skills. You can also host a session or post a project you want to work on.

- The www.wiktionary.org portal page now uses an automated update system. Other project portals will be updated over the next few months. [25]
Problems
- The Growth team maintains a mentorship program for newcomers. Previously, newcomers weren't able to opt out from the program. Starting May 19, 2022, newcomers are able to fully opt out from Growth mentorship, in case they do not wish to have any mentor at all. [26]
- Some editors cannot access the content translation tool if they load it by clicking from the contributions menu. This problem is being worked on. It should still work properly if accessed directly via Special:ContentTranslation. [27]

ip_in_ranges()function has been introduced to check if an IP is in any of the ranges. Wikis are advised to combine multipleip_in_range()expressions joined by|into a single expression for better performance. You can use the search function on Special:AbuseFilter to locate its usage. Hello! Can you do something about the Template:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 regarding the historical flags in that template. Because I see that many of the historical flags don't match with the country alias module. E.g. Hong Kong, Canada, Vietnam, India and Malaya. The Hong Kong flag should match with what they used during the 1954 Asian Games and the Canadian flag should match with what they used during the 1924 Winter Olympics. India's flag should match with what they used in 1934, the Vietnamese flag should match with what they used in 1973 and the Malaysian flag should match with the one they used in 1961. Municipalities of Spain[sunting | sunting sumber]
Hi! I'm sorry I don't speak Malay. We have a project here in Spain we call "No Municipality in Spain without a Picture". For some six or seven years, we have been taking pictures of places in Spain. We are less than 40 municipalities short of our target. Right now, you can find pictures in Wikimedia Commons for all municipalities in Spain except for Vegaviana (Cáceres) and a couple of places in Huelva province, all of which will have pictures soon, as thay have already been taken; and twenty-odd places in Salamanca province that we expect to do next autumn.
Paymogo was one of the really difficult ones, as it is far away from all major cities and routes.

Hello! Can you take a look in to the Template:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 concerning the historical flags that are in the template?. Because I see that they're not in line with the years that the competition was held. For example the flag of Hong Kong at the 1954 Asian Games and the Flag of Canada at the 1924 Winter Olympics. The flags should match with the years that the competition was held. And also the historical flags of India, Vietnam and Malaya are not in line with the years they should be in. Hello! Can you please take a look into the Template:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2. Because I see that the historical flags of Hong Kong and Canada needs to be synchronise in contrary with the year that competition was held for example Hong Kong's flag at the 1954 Asian Games and the Canadian flag at the 1924 Winter Olympics. Hello! If you should synchronise the template FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 template correctly for the historical flags then you should look how words are arranged I think you use event name, year and format instead of year, event name and format as on English pages. I give you more time to look at it comprehensively. Malaysian words are arranged different I think the main problem lays there. I think the main problem is how the words are arranged in your language you use <Event name> and <year> format opposed to the English <year> and <event name> format. Hello! Is it possible for you to synchronise the FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 template. The historical flags needs to much the years which the competitions was held including the flag of Hong Kong at the 1954 Asian Games and the Flag of Canada at the 1924 Winter Olympics and also the historical flags of Vietnam in 1973 and Malaya in 1961. I think the problem here lies on the way Malay words are arranged i think you use the <event name> and <year> formats opposed to <year> and <event name> format as they have on the English pages. I will give you all the time that you want. I don't think the problem lie in the country alias module and or Country flag IOC alias templates they are functioning properly. Changes later this week

Hello! Is it possible for you to do something regarding the historical flags in the FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 templates and how they are synchronized?. I think the main reason for the problem is how Malaysian words are arranged you use <event name> and <year> opposed to <year> and <event name> as on English pages. Hello! Can you correYct the Country alias module again. You must use your own language according to the competitions and not English notes. You use <event name> and <year> which is appropiate to your language terms. It should be di Sukan Olimpik Musim Panas and so forth. And year should be Sukan Olimpik Musim Panas 2004. Hello! I think tUhe FlagIOC template needs a change to be more compliant with your language. The usage fields needs to be set up in your language and correctly translated. You can't have things in English when it is your language that will only create confusions and misunderstandings. Recent changes
- Wikimedia Enterprise API service now has self-service accounts with free on-demand requests and monthly snapshots (API documentation). Community access via database dumps & Wikimedia Cloud Services continues.
- All Wikimedia wikis can now use Wikidata Lexemes in Lua after creating local modules and templates. Discussions are welcome on the project talk page.
Changes later this week
