Bahan letupan adalah sejenis bahan yang dari segi kimia atau tenaga tidak stabil dan menghasilkan pengembangan mengejut dan diikuti dengan penghasilan haba dan perubahan besar tekanan (dan biasanya juga kilatan dan/atau bunyi kuat) setelah dimulakan; keadaan ini dikenali sebagai letupan. Cas letupan pula merupakan ukuran kuantiti bahan letupan.
