Portrayal of Guilt ialah sebuah kugiran hardcore punk Amerika yang dibentukkan di Austin, Texas, pada 2017. Ia diasaskan oleh pemain gitar/vokalis Matt King, pemain bass Blake Given dan pemain dram James Beveridge.

Sejarah[sunting | sunting sumber]

Portrayal of Guilt terbentuk apabila pemain gitar dan vokalis Matt King dan pemain dram James Beveridge – ahli kumpulan hardcore Austin Illustrations[2] – bergabung tenaga dengan pemain bass Blake Given dari kugiran screamo Austin Lyed.[3] Ketiga-tiga mereka mengeluarkan EP bertajuk sendiri mereka pada Mei 2017, dan melawat secara meluas ke seluruh Amerika Syarikat dan Eropah dengan Centuries,[4] Majority Rule,[5] Planning for Burial, Street Sects, dan Slow Fire Pistol.

Gaya muzik Portrayal of Guilt telah dihuraikan sebagai screamo sejak penubuhan mereka kerana mereka secara terbuka mengambil daripada kumpulan-kumpulan lama dalam genre seperti Pg.99 dan City of Caterpillar[5] – malah meminta Matt Michel, frontman Majority Rule untuk merakam, campurkan, dan hasilkan rekod pertama mereka, Let Pain Be Your Guide.[9] Mereka telah dibandingkan dengan kumpulan Converge dan Oathbreaker, dan dipanggil "blackened screamo."[14]
