Awan Magellan Besar (اون ماݢلان بسر) atau kependekannya LMC merupakan sebuah galaksi tak nalar yang berhampiran dan ia adalah galaksi satelit kepada Bima Sakti.^[6] Pada jarak yang kurang daripada 50 kiloparsek (≈ 160,000 tahun cahaya),^[2]^[3]^[4] LMC adalah galaksi ketiga terdekat dengan Bima Sakti selepas Sferoid Kerdil Sagittarius (~ 16 kiloparsek) dan Galaksi Kerdil Anjing Besar (~ 12.9 kiloparsek) yang terletak lebih dekat ke pusat Bima Sakti. Ia mempunyai jisim yang setara dengan anggaran 10 bilion kali jisim Matahari kita (10¹⁰ jisim suria), menjadikannya ia lebih kurang 1/100 sebesar Bima Sakti dan diameternya ialah sekitar 14,000 tahun cahaya (~4.3 kpc).^[7] LMC adalah galaksi keempat terbesar dalam Kumpulan Tempatan selepas Galaksi Andromeda, Bima Sakti dan Galaksi Triangulum (M33).
