Neoliberalisme ialah fahaman yang menghidupkan semula idea-idea liberalisme ekonomi laissez-faire yang wujud pada abad ke-19;[1]:7 idea-idea tersebut termasuklah dasar-dasar pembebasan ekonomi seperti penswastaan, penjimatan cermat, penyahkawalseliaan, perdagangan bebas[2] serta pengurangan perbelanjaan pemerintah demi meningkatkan peranan sektor swasta dalam lingkungan ekonomi dan masyarakat.[10]
