Artikel ini memberikan gambaran keseluruhan mengenai agama mengikut negara. Perhatian bahawa agama samawi, agama Yahudi, Kristian, dan Islam, akan menunjukkan dwiangka; iaitu peratusan orang yang mempercayai Tuhan dan peratusan pengikut pada nama sahaja yang menyambut perayaan agama tradisional walaupun mengakui tidak mempercayai Tuhan: Yahudi Pada Nama dan Kristian Pada Nama yang ditemukan kebanyakannya di Eropah Barat dan Amerika Utara; serta Islam budaya di Turki dan Balkan. Peratusan penganut agama Buddha juga menunjukkan nombor biasa (penganut agama Buddha nominal) dengan beberapa agama Timur seperti Taoisme, Konfusianisme, Shinto, agama rakyat Cina dan pelbagai jenis animisme; Mahayana adalah lebih popular daripada yang lain.[1][2][3] Definisi lain ialah peratusan orang yang mengambil Refuge (= berdaftar). Professor Robert Kisala estimates that only 30% of Japanese adhere to a religion. A research done by Phil Zuckerman concluded that 64-65% of Japanese are non-believers in God[305]
